The Sedgwick TA450 Ripsaw is a robustly built sawbench, which is what is required as the backbone of any joinery workshop. It is powerful, accurate, reliable and simple and safe to operate. Construction

A large cast iron table mounted on a heavy duty steel cabinet provides maximum timber support. The stable and accurate base for anchoring the spindle, rise and fall, and tilt mechanisms. The spindle shaft is powered by a high efficiency IE2 industrial rated motor via a three belt drive pulley. Another key point is the large diameter saw flanges that ensure blade stability. Running ‘sealed for life’ bearings mounted in a cast iron housing, means only minimal maintenance is required.

Hand wheels at the front and side of the machine control the fall and tilt mechanisms using square thread screws. Both are easily accessible by the machine operator.

Versatility

The rip fence is an aluminium section, allowing for two working positions (ripping and angled ripping) and for movement fore and aft in relation to the saw blade. It is fixed to a heavy duty cast iron mounting bracket for rigidity, and has integral micro adjustment. The assembly runs on a nylon roller, gliding easily across the beds, and is supported by a 40mm diameter solid steel bar for rigidity.
